Committee Charge:

 

Committee on Student Affairs

1.    To review college policies and practices regarding admissions, student academic records, and financial aid.

2.    To review and make recommendations regarding the College's intercollegiate and intramural programs.

3.    To serve as a clearinghouse for suggestions offered by faculty, students, and administration in the areas of student affairs.

4.    To make recommendations on requirements for student participation in student activities and collegiate athletics.

5.    To review Title IX Guidelines regarding athletics and College implementation of the guidelines as they apply to athletics.

6.    To help develop communications among students, student organizations, faculty, and administration.

7.    To assist in coordinating student activities, helping prepare students and student organization officers for leadership, and to establish guidelines for advisors to student activities.

8.    To aid in the following:

a.    Surveys of student clubs and their activities, publishing them if appropriate.

b.    Assisting the entire student body in discovering and responding to the valuable learning experiences and awareness of belonging to a community, which should result from their knowledge of, or service on, College committees.

c.    Orientation programs.

9.    Serve as an advisory body to the Dean of Student Affairs.

10.   At the first meeting of each year the committee will elect a Chairperson, establish appropriate deadlines, and update its bylaws.  A copy of the committee's bylaws and deadlines must be distributed to the President of the College, the Federation President, and to the Chairperson of the Advisory Council to the President. 

11.   Post copies of all committee agendas, minutes and reports on the identified bulletin board.  In addition, forward copies of committee agendas, minutes and reports to the President of the College, the Federation President, and the Chairperson of the Advisory Council at the same time that such material is distributed to the members of the committee.

12.   At the end of each academic year, the committee will prepare an annual report on committee activities.  Copies of this report must be forwarded to the President of the College, the Federation President and the Advisory Council to the President.
